The rules for entering the run and donating. Please read them before you register.
Run4Hope ("we", "us") is an independent community initiative based in Somerset West, Western Cape, South Africa. [Legal structure and registration details, e.g. registered NPO number, or the organisation we operate under.]
Run4Hope is a new initiative and is not currently registered as a charity or formally associated with any charity. Where we say we plan to support a charity, it is a plan and not yet an agreement.
The entry fee is R100 per runner. An entry is confirmed only once your payment has been confirmed by our payment provider, PayFast.
Every runner must be registered with their own name and email address. A group registration is made by one group contact, who pays for everyone in the group.
Every runner must sign the event waiver before the event. We may refuse entry on the day to anyone who has not signed it.
Runners must be 18 or older [or: runners under 18 may enter only with the written consent of a parent or guardian. Decide and update the waiver to match].
You are responsible for making sure you are fit enough to take part. If you are unsure, please speak to a doctor first.
All prices are in South African Rand (ZAR). Payments are processed by PayFast. We never see or store your card details.
Payment processing fees may apply and are covered in our Refund Policy and our plans for how money is used.
Please see our Refund Policy.
The date, venue, route and schedule may change because of weather, safety, permits or other circumstances outside our control. We will tell registered runners by email.
If we cancel the event, we will offer a refund or transfer as set out in the Refund Policy.
Donations are voluntary. Our plan is for profit from entries and donations, after event costs, to go towards charities working in men's mental health, starting with SADAG, as well as funding therapy for individuals and flowers for bereaved families. We have not finalised an agreement with SADAG or any other charity.
If a planned beneficiary cannot or does not wish to receive funds, we will give the money to another registered organisation working in men's mental health or suicide prevention, and we will publish this on our News & Updates page.
We will publish updates on how funds are used. Donations are not refundable except as set out in the Refund Policy. [State whether tax certificates are available. Do not offer them unless you can legally issue them.]
If you choose to be shown on the donor wall, your name and amount will be displayed publicly. The reason you give for donating is private.
Please be respectful to other runners, volunteers, marshals and the public, and follow instructions from event staff. We may remove anyone whose behaviour puts others at risk.
Run4Hope is an awareness and fundraising initiative. We do not provide counselling or medical advice. If you or someone you know is struggling, please visit our Get Help page. In an emergency, call 112.
Taking part is at your own risk, subject to the event waiver you sign. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under South African law that cannot be limited, including the Consumer Protection Act.
We may update these terms. The version that applies to you is the one you accepted when you registered. These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa.
